I provide EVERYTHING required, including the basic plastic milk-bottle on the stick and masses of `stuff`. I show how by using card and masking tape the structure of the puppet (person, animal, bird, mini-beast, fish etc.) is built up and coloured with tissue paper and PVA. It is then finished with hair, feathers, glittery bits, whiskers, beards etc.
The process can be based on a Traditional Story told at the beginning, where the characters in the story are constructed, or any theme you wish. I have done Sea Creatures, Rain Forest Creatures, Mini-Beasts, African Animals, Fantasy Reptiles, Multi-Cultural People, and Fairies for Midsummer Nights Dream production and many more. If you have a need, just ask. I love a challenge. There is not always time for this on a workshop day, but I show how a puppet theatre can be quickly and easily constructed from a large cardboard box (a big TV or Freezer box is ideal). I can bring my own just to demonstrate how a quick story can be `made up` and performed. If the school can secure a large box prior to the workshop day, then we can together quickly start the theatre which can be decorated and finished at your leisure. You then have this Puppet Theatre for future use. I can manage two classes in a day, possibly three with lots of helpers (it is always nice to get some mums and dads in to help- they will have a whale of a time).
I SUPPLY ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING REQUIRED TO MAKE THE PUPPETS.
“Hi Don. Just a short note to say a huge thank you on behalf of all the Year 2 team here at Decoy School. The children and staff had a fantastic day and the puppets they made were superb. We look forward to working with you in the future.”

“Dear Don. Thank you for a lovely day of making fairytale puppets last week. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Following your visit to our school, we spent the rest of the week using our puppets to make up puppet shows and write extended stories. The children worked ever so hard on them so I thought I would share a sample of their stories and a few photos from our puppet shows for you to enjoy. Especially as it was your visit that gave us the inspiration for them! Kind regards, Coralie Thorne.”
