Other "Making" Workshops

Over the many years I have been doing craft workshops in schools I have been asked for several specific `making` workshops. As examples I have made WHEELED VEHICLES, WORKING CRANES, POP-UP PUPPETS (ones that appear when you push a stick up from the base of as cone), CHARACTER HEAD-DRESSES for a performance of A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM , large REINDEER constructed from withies and tissue paper, ANIMALS that had JAWS THAT OPENED by a system of PULLEYS AND LEVERS, and constructing BRIDGES.

These were of the six different types of BRIDGE, from simple flat bridges to elaborate SWING BRIDGES, LIFTING BRIDGES, and SUSPENSION BRIDGES.

All great fun to devise and allow the children to make them from easily worked materials and utilising the necessary system of levers and pulley wheels. In all these cases I PROVIDED EVERYTHING NEEDED. So, if you have a specific need for a workshop and are unsure how to do it, then email me.

I DO LOVE A CHALLENGE. At present I am working on making AUTOMATA using simple materials that will enable Primary School pupils to construct a working AUTOMATA in a day. I`m not there yet - but WATCH THIS SPACE.

“Don makes everything interesting. He`s always enthusiastic” - “He puts a lot of expression into what he tell us. He can make you laugh or really make you think”---“He can make things dramatic. You can see the stories in your head”---“Don`s good fun. I`ve always enjoyed it when he comes in. You know it`s going to be a good day”.
